who

Matt Jackson - founder and fabricator
i started my career as a lighting designer in the architectural design community and worked alongside many talented and creative minds. with over five years of experience working on local and international projects of all kinds i found that the simple and elegant designs were what interested me the most. i've since transferred this curiosity into my own personal modern/minimalist/contemporary design studio that specializes in wood furniture, picture frames and fashion accessories.

what

Boscus Designs all started with a passion for modern, minimalist and contemporary designs with a traditional, but often neglected material: wood. each piece of lumber is hand selected to display the organic and complex grains found in most wood. no stains or pigments are ever used to enhance the grain. only clear coats are applied to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. clean lines and simple forms in my designs don't distract from the complexities found in each piece of wood.

why

in search of unique and design-oriented gifts for friends and family i realized there were not products available that were simple, individual and modern all at the same time. i started Boscus Designs in early 2009 as a hobby and a means to make furniture, art frames and fashion accessories for myself, my family and my closest friends. it turned into something more than just a hobby. it became my passion. being able to design, fabricate and share my designs is truly satisfying. hopefully you love and admire each piece as much as i do, and i can only hope it shows in each of my designs.

where

currently all of the designs and fabrication are done in my home studio and wood shop (my garage) in southern california.
